Worship Caring Outreach Evangelism Discipleship Healthy Community Prayer

In the fall of 2002, the Consistory (church board) of New Hope Community Church met for a day of prayer and reflection as we sought to discern together the values and principles that God desired to define and shape His ministry in our community. As the day progressed, through much prayer, laughter, and story telling, 7 core values became apparent. Through further reflection, we have found it best to talk about these core values in two different ways.

 First, there are the values that determine the types of ministries we get involved in at New Hope. We believe God calls us to:

1.     Walk with and encourage each other to grow in our relationship with God, that’s Discipleship.

2.     Celebrate God’s presence and work in our life as we praise Him throughout our lives, that’s Worship.

3.     Welcome others into our community, caring for each other as we experience life together as God’s family, that’s Healthy Community.

4.     Share the love and forgiveness of Jesus Christ in both word and deed as we care for the needs of others and tell them of God’s great love for them, that’s Caring Outreach and Evangelism.

We accomplish these 4 purposes in a very specific way shaped by our other values.

1.     All of our ministries, both new and old, are bathed in prayer as we seek God’s direction and blessing as we seek to serve Him.

2.     All believers are called by God to serve and minister to others using their gifts. The ministry of the church is not done by paid pastors or staff, but by believers called by God to share their gifts. We support our members in developing their gifts to lead and serve in our church and local community.

3.     The organization of our church exists not to keep people busy, not to look good, but in order to support our members as they seek to use their gifts.
