Perhaps Annie Dillard says it best when she writes, “On the whole, I do not find Christians, outside of the catacombs, sufficiently sensible of conditions. Does anyone have the foggiest idea what sort of power we so blithely invoke… The churches are children playing with chemistry sets, mixing up a batch of TNT to kill a Sunday morning. It is madness to wear ladies’ straw hats and velvet hats to church; we should all be wearing crash helmets. Ushers should issue life preservers and signal flares; they should lash us to our pews… for the waking God may draw us out to where we can never return.” At New Hope, we recognize that worship is an awesome life changing event. Whenever we enter into the presence of God and offer our lives to Him, we must be ready to become changed people transformed by our God’s amazing power. Through our music, prayers, offerings, messages and scripture readings we seek to open ourselves up to God and listen to His still small voice calling us to enter into a deeper and more profound relationship with Him.
