newhopechurch@comcast.net Position Described: Director of Music Ministries, part-time (20 hours/week). EFFECTIVE DATE: Immediately. COMPETANCIES REQUIRED. A. A Committed Christian with an understanding of mainline Christian theology and style of worship B. Experienced musician with experience leading a blended church music program. C A passion for and experience with a wide spectrum of church music. D. Ability to both lead music programs and recruit and supervise others to lead programs. E. Ability to recognize musical talent and encourage participation and spiritual growth. F. In addition to musical skills, the Director should possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills. He/she must love to work with volunteers and be able to "love us in all of our uniqueness." RESPONSIBILITIES: The Director of Music Ministries is responsible for the development of all music programs which may include the responsibility to:A. Direct the Sounds of Hope Choir (congregational choir). B. Direct New Hope Praise Team, including selecting music, leading rehearsals and providing regular participation in worship. C. Assist in the planning of worship service including the selection of congregational songs. D. Oversee the scheduling of "special music," including occasional guest artists or special programs. E. Oversee the maintenance of musical instruments and equipment. F. Oversee the organization and maintenance of the music library. G. Attend workshops to become familiar with new music and ideas. H. Serve as a music consultant for special church functions. 1. Provide a variety of musical styles to facilitate worship in a diverse congregation. J. Work with our sound technicians in the purchasing, maintenance and operation of our sound equipment. K. Oversee the scheduling of worship service accompanists. L. Oversee the development and establishment of new music ministries (bell choir, children's choirs, small ensembles, and instrumental groups) as needed. THE DIRECTOR OF MUSIC MINISTRIES WILL BE A TEAM MEMBER OF THE NHCC STAFF. A. Accountable to the consistory (church board) with daily supervision by the Senior Pastor. B. Works in close association with the Worship Planning Team and the Senior Pastor. C. Meets with the consistory and staff committee as necessary. COMPENSATION. A. Three month trial period followed by review. B. Salary reviewed and adjusted annually by the Staff Committee. C. Salary commensurate with experience and duties.
